What am I going to take from this class?

I am going to be more grateful for my teachers and respect them more. I mean there is so much work that goes into preparing for a five minute speech when they have to organize what they’re going to talk about for three to five hours. I am going to be a lot more understanding when they say they’re not done grading yet since there is so much on their plates.  I also think that time management and knowing how being in front of my audience affects my speech. I learned that you have to be in a good mindset and you can’t have things in or out of class distract you from what you’re doing. You have to build a whole new character when you get in front of the audience and let the past go. I think that’s what I had most trouble with and I think the beginning of the speech is a lot more easier than the ending.

  1. First off, I just want to say your writing is very enjoyable. You carry a casual style from speaking into your writing. You were probably one of the funnier people in the class. I really enjoyed the speeches you gave. Obviously, you think more about the whole picture rather then whats just in front of you. Speech definitely makes you respect someone else's presentations that are long and tedious with phrasing and information. I think of the Presidents, who stood in front of thousands and had to deliver updates on world issues. I am happy I got to meet such creative people during this class. Some of you guys really blew me away with your media. Good work, I hope you are able to continue your education.

  2. I totally understand what you're saying. A couple of years ago I realized how much public speaking professors do. Like you said, they have to prepare hours of teaching, explaining, helping, etc. Although if they are just teaching the same class over and over again its kind of like just repeating the same speech many times; they really know their material. But the bottom line is that teachers really aren't appreciated enough. Since we did take this public speaking class we are definitely learning how to speak up front in a more prepared manner. Anyway, great job on this post and on your presentations in class too!
